Veteran Optician and Optometrist to Offer Comprehensive Eye Exams, One-hour Service on 12,000 Single Vision Lenses, Large Showroom Displaying 850 frames at Various Price Points
LATHAM, N.Y. (June 20, 2017) — Regional developer First Columbia today announced that Taras Optical, a family owned and operated vision practice, has moved into 2,240-square-feet of ground floor space at 1207 Troy Schenectady Road, a retail/office space building located in front of the 17-acre Riverhill Center office park.
Run by veteran optician, Thomas Tarasovich, who has served the Capital Region’s optical needs since 1979, Taras Optical specializes in an extensive selection of unique and custom eyewear. Services including filling outside prescriptions, duplications, repairs, adjustments and motor vehicle testing.
Dr. Madge Hinman, a well-respected and residency-trained optometrist with more than 25 years of experience practicing in the Capital Region, will provide comprehensive eye exams. A graduate of The New England College of Optometry. she specializes in detecting ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration and treating dry eye disease, ocular allergies and conjunctivitis. Additionally, she offers medical consultations for diabetic eyecare and performs routine and specialty contact lens fittings.
In addition to an exam and contact lens room, the ground floor business features an in-store finishing lab with one-hour service on more than 12,000 single vision lenses and a large showroom displaying 850 frames at various price points. Taras Optical accepts most insurance plans, including Davis Vision, EyeMed, CDPHP, MVP Health Care and New York state employee plans.
“The Colonie and Niskayuna town line is a beautiful neighborhood in which to locate our new business,” said Tarasovich, who is closely supported by his wife, Donna and son, Josef, both of whom have more than 20 years of eye care experience. “What attracted us to the building is the tremendous traffic along Route 7, as well as the countless family neighborhoods located nearby.”
